Friday Five Summer

The heat definitely settled in this week.  After I started back into cardio, of course.  I did get my mile run done early Tuesday morning.  I figured with the forecast, it would even be too hot at lunchtime, and I was right.  This way I got my run in and didn't have to worry about it after work.  Now if I can continue to do that on Tuesdays in the summer, I can figure out something on Thursdays.  I have to commute in on Thursdays, so I won't have the time those mornings.

I had my second acupuncture appointment this week.  We did the basics again, plus a couple more pressure points, including for my sinuses.  Allergy season here has been nonstop since the fall.  Of course we had winter, but it was mild enough for these parts, it did  nothing to kill the pollen.  June has been awful with all the cottonwood pollen floating around like snow.  She put a needle on either side of my nose to get the sinuses, and she said they were quite inflamed.  I should start to feel them open up and drain today.  Sounds nasty, but I want it to work.

43 days till Alaska.  I'll include the countdown each Friday since I really need that vacation right now.

  4. I haven't been on a cruise in 15 years. Sounds fun! Those sinus needles don't sound fun though.

    1. I didn't feel anything when she put the needles in. I could see them below my vision, and they looked like a mustache!

  6. I hear you on the vacation!

Mr. Judy suffers with the allergies, too (and cottonwood has been floating around here for months already). I can't interest him in any alternative treatments, although he has tried some homeopathic allergy meds he found on his own that he thinks helps a bit, so hallelujah!

    1. Only Flonase seems to help, and then it wasn't working since my sinuses were so inflamed. i'm hoping they'll calm down again.

  9. Running in the morning before the heat really takes over is a great strategy - I enjoyed doing shorter runs in the AM during the summer, but now that I'm taking the train to work every day it would be much more of a time crunch.

I'm surprised about the pollen in June being an issue, very cool that the acupuncture is helping with your allergies!

    1. June is actually a big pollen month here. Our mild winter didn't help either.

  10. The pollen was really bad here this year. I never remembered so much pollen in our swimming pool. It took weeks before it was gone.
