My February

It's time to sum up the month.  It was a mix if sharpening my base, a mini break due to work, and then training began.  It's been a weird month, and I was exhausted this past weekend.  It was a tough month at work, with changes and adjustments, and then the weather hasn't helped.  I would've loved a 3-day weekend this week, but I have vacation coming up at the end of March.  I just need to make it there.

So far, my mileage is a little short compared to January, but I do have a 3-mile run today.  I hope I can push through whatever barrier I have to get to 3 miles.  I did 3 miles twice in February, and both were a challenge.  I don't know if it's the treadmill, or something mental, or that I'm not quite at my natural stride on the treadmill.  I'm really looking forward to this weekend because right now, the forecast shows 57 on Saturday!  Oh please please please stay that temp.  I ended up doing everything inside this past weekend because the wind was insane.

My main focus again was strength training.  After that one spot flared up on my hamstring, I've incorporated a day of just hamstring exercises.  Other days are a combo of lower body, and then Pure Barre is total body.  I've been biking more since getting my recumbent bike, and my routine feels good.  I can definitely keep at it during training.

I also bought new gear.  I haven't tested out my new sports bras yet, but I will this week.  I wanted to wash them first.  New gear always makes training fun.  Since I have new sports bras now, I can see how much my older ones have stretched.  They still work great, but the new ones seem smaller, and yet they fit so well.

The last is a side note.  I don't do Lent, and I'm not religious, but the timing worked out well.  I finally had enough of Twitter and the political minefields, so I de-activated my account.  After 30 straight days of not logging in, my account will be deleted.  It's definitely been hard, but I found I wasn't really posting lately, and I'd go a whole day without logging in.  Might as well cut the cord.  Y'all can still follow along on Instagram :)

Tuesdays on the Run with PattyErika, and Marcia.

  1. We've got that same warm, windy weather here. It feels spring-like so I'll take it! You're right: Running gear is always uplifting, especially bras! Haha!

  2. I don't have a personal twitter account either. I used to and never used it, so I haven't missed it either. New Running gear is always fun. It always seems to make the runs go much better. Maybe that is just in our heads.

    1. I'm really not missing Twitter. I'm just breaking the habit of logging in, and then not using it.

  5. I have a Twitter account but seldom ever look at anything on it...I "share" my Instagram posts there and that's it. I am not a political gal, and take much offense at almost everything I see (regardless from which side it is coming). I often get the impression people are just wanting to argue with someone else and/or need a punching bag. My coping mechanism is to simply avoid it LOL Ignorance is bliss (for me anyways) ;-)

    1. Ignorance is bliss. It may sound bad, but sometimes it's the only way I can function.

  6. You know, I've thought about doing the same thing with Twitter. I just don't use it as much as I did! I'll occasionally tweet things from other blogs and I tweet about my blog posts and Instagram posts but I'm just not as active as I used to be. And I'm not sad. I used to follow ALL the sports stuff but ..... meh.

New workout gear is the BEST!!! I have some arriving tomorrow, actually! I'm so excited! (my husband thinks I'm nuts for getting excited over a pair of "death shorts" - he refers to running as death. LOL!).

Strength training FTW! You had a decent month, given the circumstances! :)

    1. I don't either, but people like tweets and retweet them so it's all over my timeline.

  8. There is definitely something about new running gear.

I have Twitter set up to automatically tweet my blog . . . and then I seriously never look at it. There's only so many hours in a day!

  11. I hope you feel well enough to get your run in tomorrow. That medal pretty much sums up Bay to Breakers, doesn't it?
