Monday Musings 2/5

It's Monday, and it's my mom's birthday.  Happy birthday Mom!!

How was everyone's weekend?  I actually ended up doing a bit of shopping this weekend.  After thinking about new shoes, I sprung for them early, even though I haven't filed my tax return yet.  My current shoes are still going strong, but it'll be good to have another pair in the rotation.  Actually, it'll be good to have a rotation.  I usually don't have more than one pair.  There's a great local store in Golden where I got the shoes, and they have all kinds of Oiselle gear.  I had to remember I was only there for shoes and Nuun.

My Girl Scout cookies were delivered Saturday as well.  Maybe it's a good thing I got a new pair of shoes.  Some of the boxes are for my mom, so I have those in the freezer to keep until she picks them up.  So I have 1 box of peanut butter sandwich cookies (which I've already opened), two boxes of thin mints, and 3 boxes of Savannah smiles.  Those are my favorite.

The rest of Saturday was spent doing my run, and finishing the book I was reading.  I got to 3 miles for the first time since Vegas, and the last half mile hurt.  Mentally I wanted to stop at 2.5, but I want to get to 3, and I forced myself to do it.  Hopefully now I can get to that distance easily in training.

Sunday was cold!  I woke up and it was 14 degrees and snowing!  We didn't get any accumulation, but the system seems stuck over us.  My weather apps kept showing it was going to move on and give us sunshine.  We didn't get sun until 1:30, maybe.  I got my errands done, including getting the shirt I wanted from Dick's Sporting Goods, and made sure I got soup for lunch.  Soup always tastes great when it's that cold out.

My Sunday workouts were biking 20 minutes, and then Pure Barre, with my own core work.  Hopefully I'll have done a good job with my muscle strength for all the hill work I need to do with training.

  1. Happy Birthday to your Mom! I try to avoid GS cookies because I eat them by the box -- or at least the sleeve.

    1. I used to eat them by the box. Now I try to be good and have two cookies with lunch and two after dinner.

  2. I wish I hadn't learned you can order the cookies online. LOL. So far, I've been strong. I need to get new shoes in my rotation too. I just don't like the colors offered right now. Nice job on your run! Thanks for linking.

    1. It makes ordering so easy, and so dangerous. Can I have one of everything?

    1. Luckily I have friends who will help, but I'm still eating a majority of the cookies.

I didn't order any Girl Scout cookies this year because I cannot trust myself around them, lol. It's way too easy for me to finish off a sleeve of cookies!

    1. I ordered 3 boxes of Savannah smiles, and those won't last long at all.

  6. I haven't heard of Savannah Smiles before. Samoas were always my favorite girl scout cookie :)

    1. Savannah Smiles are light crunchy cookies with lemon flavors and covered in powdered sugar.

  7. It's cold here, too. A little snow over night, more on its way. The snow-free roads/paths were nice while it lasted. Hello, February!

  9. I haven't filed my taxes yet either...I'll get to them eventually, ha!

Man, Girl Scout cookies are so dangerous...I'm thankful I don't have a supplier that can tempt me with buying them all!

I always say I'll rotate 2 pairs and I never do!

    1. This'll be my first attempt at rotating shoes. I say I'll do that, then just switch to the new shoes.

  10. Happy Birthday to your mom. Both my daughters sold GS cookies and it was so tough because they have to go out in the coldest part of the year. I don't miss it.

  14. I got some Girl Scout cookies from my friend's daughter and I am really fighting the temptation to open them! I got some peanut butter ones and thin mints. I don't think they will last long at my house! Your shoes look good!!
