Monday Musings 10/8

Whew!  It's been a whirlwind since I started last Monday.  First I was super busy learning and training at my new job, then I had a busy weekend for my race.  Starting a new routine is not easy y'all!  I even changed my caffeine routine, and I'm feeling the effects with two ocular migraines.  I'm going to start drinking my tea much earlier than I did last week.

I was online long enough to see Wednesday was Oct 3rd.  Am I the only one who doesn't care for Mean Girls?  I've seen it, and thought "Meh."  I wasn't even wearing pink on accident.  I ended up wearing pink on Friday.

Between starting my new job, I continued Halloween viewing, with the Great Pumpkin on Monday to kick off October, and then Thursday was the Nightmare Before Christmas.  In between that was a couple Halloween episodes from Frasier and Friends.

Saturday was busy since I had to drive in to Boulder to pick up my race packet, and I made sure to get there early.  There was a football game at 2, and I didn't want to stick around for that traffic.  I also bought a new laptop.  I was paid my accrued vacation time from CU, and my last Mac is 5.5 years old.  It hasn't been compatible for updates for months, and it was running slow.  Time for a new one.  I did a big transfer of my files, and I still need to get the Microsoft package.  I also filled out the information on my old Mac for Apple's recycling program.

Sunday was my race, and stick around for the recap on Tuesday.  Afterwards I stopped by Starbucks to get some hot chocolate since I was a little chilled, and got home in time for a big Premier League match.  I finished up grocery shopping and was a slug for the afternoon.  I rarely sleep well before races, and I was awake at 3:30am for a 5am alarm.  Coupled with that and the gray weather, it was the perfect afternoon to do nothing.  I did make banana nut muffins from Betty Crocker, so I wasn't a complete slug.

Linking up with Holly and Wendy for Weekend Wrap-up.

  1. I need a new laptop! I just dread the whole transfer thing. I used to watch all the Halloween movies and shows with my sons (sniff, sniff). It just doesn't seem the same without them. I'm looking forward to your race details! Thanks for linking.

    1. I did a big transfer with my external hardrive. I don't really have a lot of folders, so it's just a matter of waiting while the files are loaded.

  2. While mean girls is not one of my favorite movies, I am a pink girl so I jumped in on it. New routines definitely take a few weeks to adapt too. Hope this week goes better for you

  3. I have a new Mac Book and I'm not loving it. I don't have enough memory in this one. I still need the old one because it's storing a lot of photos and music.

I feel like I"m the only one who didn't get the memo on the Mean Girls thing. I don't even know what it means...

    1. It's a movie from 2004. It's one of those where a lot of women my age quote it and love it. Me, not so much.

  4. Enlighten me....I'm also in the dark on the Mean Girls pink thing (?) We have a PC at home, but I use a Mac at work and totally LOVE it. It took me forever to get the hang of it (I am pretty tech stupid), but now I much prefer the Mac over the PC.

    1. It references wearing pink on Wednesday, and Oct. 3rd comes up. I never think of the movie that day and then see all the memes posted.

  5. Transitioning to a new job would be exhausting even without other changes in your routine. I hope your Half went well!

  7. What a busy week for you!

I'm with you on Mean Girls. I thought the movie was just "okay". Also I'm not a huge fan of pink so there's that, lol

    1. I also thought the Notebook wasn't anything special. I rarely go ga-ga over movies anyway.

  8. I saw Mean Girls but I have no idea what the October 3 thing is...I guess I wasn't paying attention that much?

Looking forward to your recap! I watched some Frasier yesterday but no Halloween episodes...they are some of my favorite episodes though!

  10. I have a thing for pink, but Mean Girls Day escaped me despite the show being half a block from my office.
Congrats on the new laptop and the job? Although I think I remember saying that prior.
It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

    1. I haven't used the laptop a whole lot, but it boots up so much faster than my old one now.

  11. Are you talking "Mean Girls" the movie from years ago (with Lindsey Lohan?) or is there a new one out? When it comes to new shows and movies, I practically live under a rock. The old Mean Girls didn't impress me that much.

And Woop! on the new laptop! I just switched to a Mac a year and 1/2 ago and love it. I was sure I would NEVER own a Mac... now I wouldn't go back :)

    1. The movie. I have friends who quote it and love it. I think I've only seen it beginning to end once.

  12. I am such a good sleeper. But before races I always struggle - even if I just looking to have fun on the course with no serious goals. Those pre-race jitters always hit me in the form of unsettled sleep.
