Friday Five: Race Week

Whew!  What a busy week.  I didn't blog as much and comment as much since I'm settling into a new job and a new routine.  Right now I'm working 8:30 to 5, and I used to start work at 7:15 for years!  It's quite a change, and I was exhausted most days when I got home from work.  Thank goodness this was taper.  I only managed 1 mile on Tuesday, and 1.5 miles on Wednesday when I felt less tired.

Speaking of which, I've been watching the weather forecast, and it's been all over.  I'll own the Goldilocks label of runners.  I want my weather to be just right.  I started pulling up the forecast on Tuesday and saw a chance of rain and mid-40s.  Wednesday had the forecast at a steady light rain and mid-40s, then changed it to t-storms starting in the morning.  Thursday it was showing cloudy with t-storms in the afternoon.  I'll decide what to wear and how to proceed Saturday.  I don't mind t-storms in the afternoon Sunday, as long as I can get my race done in dry conditions!

A super good luck to all Chicago runners, and a special shout out to Kathryn!

  1. I hope the new job is going well! Yes the weather is all over the place for sure. I hope the rain holds off for marathon day on Sunday.

    1. Did it? I didn’t really watch a lot of the marathon.

  2. I would rather a light rain, even if cold, than hot. :) Although rain wouldn't have been good for me last weekend, either, since so much of the race was run on the boardwalk.

Good luck & I hope the weather settles down in your favor!

  5. Well, I got to run in an almost full-blown thunder storm earlier tonight (after work). Thankfully, it only lasted for about 3-4 miles, but it was a mess! Still, I would do it allover again to avoid the 'mill ;-)

    1. I’m not sure about a t-storm. I’ve been in rain and it wasn’t bad.
