Monday Musings 10/1

Welcome to October, and it's the first day of my new job!

The past week was all about taking it easy while I taper for my race, and finish up training people at my previous job to take over my tasks.  Good thing it was taper since some of those days I was tired when I got home.

This weekend was busy too.  Since I'm now no longer working in Boulder, I need to switch banks since there's no Bank of America in my area.  So I adulted pretty hard and opened up a new checking and savings with a new bank that has locations near my home and where I'll be working.  Now I just need to work on transferring my money.  I also decided to do it now since I'll be filling out new payroll paperwork, and I can have them direct deposit into my new account.  After that I stocked up on potting soil, and I got my hair cut.

Saturday afternoon was spent potting my tulip bulbs, finishing up rotating out my summer flowers, and get some decorations out for Halloween.  This is the first time I've done anything with tulip bulbs and I hope I did it right.  I bought 4 different colors and my patio should be pretty come March/April.  In the meantime, I'll move the pots into my garage for the winter.

I spent the rest of the afternoon doing a little bit of lower body strength training, and some scrapbooking.  I wanted to re-do a couple pages, and I really like the Juneau page a lot more now.

I finished up Saturday by making an apple pie :)

Sunday I met up with some Oiselle ladies and did a run in Boulder, then brunch after.  It's been chilly this weekend, and I had to turn on my heat Friday evening.  This meant Sunday's weather was perfect for running.  I did have to layer, and it did start misting a little bit during my run.  But it was also one of those runs where I could've kept running.  I'm hoping I can feel that way for my race next Sunday.  We then went to the south side Walnut Cafe in Boulder, and since it was chilly, and I'd been sweating, I needed something warm to drink.  I had my first hot chocolate of the season, and it was delicious!

Linking up with Holly and Wendy for Weekend Wrap-up.

    1. I like not having any pressure. Sure the training is still needed, and not as many miles.

    1. Thanks. It's a simple filling recipe and the most work is peeling and slicing the apples.

    1. I hope the bulbs are OK. I've had them outside to get some fresh air, and we got rain yesterday.

  11. What a lovely scrapbook page! I did that for quite a number of years...and then gave it up. But at least all three of my kids have their scrapbooks for memories. Very impressive apple pie as well. I'll admit I've never made a crust like that! Thanks for linking.

    1. No, I get the Pillsbury pie crusts. I take short cuts when I can and their crust is quite tasty.
