Global Running Day

Tomorrow is global running day, and it always seems like I'm not running when it comes around.  It's in the summer, and summer is normally one of my off seasons.  I'll be sure to get outside tomorrow and walk, either at lunch or after work.  I walked at lunch yesterday, and then I was immediately ready for a nap.  Oof.  I brewed some more tea instead, but a snooze would have been better.

Since I got my walk in before heading home, I decided to do some short strength training after work.  To ease into it, I did my prehab exercises twice through, and I was feeling it in my piriformis.  I even had help :)  I know I haven't done these since before San Francisco.  I also started foam rolling again, and there some tired and tight spots in my legs.  I gave myself a day off from core work, because I was a little sore, but I did do the breathing exercises for my diaphragm.  Laying on the floor, breathing slowly puts me in the mood for bed.  I guess it's a good thing I do it at the end of the day.

Today will be another walk, probably on my lunch break.  Since I work from home on Tuesdays I can walk around my neighborhood.  The heat is here, and walking at lunch makes it a little easier to be outside.  Granted it's not Texas heat, but heat is heat.  Then I'll do more prehab exercises and core work.

Tuesdays on the Run with PattyErika, and Marcia.

  1. Haha I totally get how those exercises makes you ready for bed. That's how I feel anytime I get my yoga mat out to do exercises. The minute I have to lay down on the floor I'm done for...haha

    1. Yup. I lay down and do the breathing exercises. Then I have to scrape myself off the floor and go to bed.

  2. Tomorrow's not a running day for me either and I think my plan will be to take a walk during lunch too :)

    1. I ended up taking a short walk because it was already hot.

  3. It is actually so freaking cold here the last couple of days -- the heat broke right after our 5k, LOL!

It's not a running day for me either tomorrow. Unless I don't get my run in today, I'm waiting on some guys that are doing work on our trees to finish up.

But I am thinking it's time to get back into the pool!

    1. Of course the heat would break after your 5k. We have Ironman Boulder today and it's the last day of a heat wave.

  4. Well, tomorrow works out perfectly since I have my usual #5at5 on tap LOL Even if it wasn't a "scheduled" day, I'd probably get out for at least a mile...just to take part ;-)

    1. It's always when I'm giving my body a break after my big spring race. I do like the sales though. That's always a plus.

  5. I probably won't be running tomorrow either but I'll be hosting a GRD group run so it should be fun anyway.

    1. Exactly. I ran at heart that day, and did strength training instead.

  7. Today worked out to be a running day for me, but it doesn't always line up with Global Running Day each year. I'll be sure to log some miles for both of us this afternoon. :)

  8. Prehab is so crucial but sooo boring! Good for you for getting it done. This is the first I've stumbled across your blog and I look forward to reading more!

    1. I will admit too that I wasn't as good with prehab and I was in the fall. It definitely came back to bite me.
