Friday Five

Today's topic is healthy foods, but I don't think I can write about that since I have Girl Scout cookies on their way.  According to the tracking #, they're in Denver :)

I will say one thing about healthy foods though... I've started swapping out chips for extra fruit and nuts in my weekday lunches.  This week it's been strawberries and pecans, but I'll need other ideas to keep things from getting boring.

Randoms from the week:

I got my W-2 form, and after going through the process, I have a refund due.  That was a nice surprise.  I expected to owe money.  I won't file for a little bit, but being a runner, I automatically thought about new running shoes.  I got my current ones halfway through training for Vegas, and will be due for another pair since I do a no-no and wear my running shoes everywhere.

I found out my chiropractor sells Rock Tape, and I bought two boxes.  I decided to go with my college colors, just to have a little fun. Training starts 2 weeks from Monday, if I can believe that.  Where did January go?

Happy Groundhog Day!  Phil saw his shadow, so six more weeks of winter.  Does anybody else like the movie?  I saw this morning that Starz Classic is showing the movie on repeat, all day.  I know what I'm watching when I get home.

I've decided to wear my running vest to work today.  I haven't had a chance to test it out on a run just yet.  I asked for it, as a great gift idea, and now I don't know when I get it out on its first run.  I'm waiting for that perfect day.

And last one, I will NOT be watching the Super Bowl.  I may say it every year, but I haven't watched it since 2011.  I haven't watched football in years.  Last year I watched Robin Hood: Men in Tights instead of the game.  I haven't decided what I'm going to watch, but I will check PBS to see if they're showing Victoria.  Who knows what other networks do with the game on.

  1. I'm about to blow your mind... I've NEVER seen Groundhog Day! And I went to college at Indiana University of PA, which actually had a Punxsy campus about a 1/2 hour away. I remember sometimes students would go to Punxsy for the groundhog ceremony or whatever but I never did. It never interested me to be out in the cold!

    1. I don't like being cold either, or getting up early to be out in the cold.

  2. My husband is not a huge football fan & his team isn't playing . . . we don't normally watch.

I tend to go with nude for my Rocktape! Except that time pink camo was the only option. :)

    1. I have fun with the colors. Since I did a race on Memorial Day last year, I had their patriotic tape.

  3. I will have the game on but not sure how much attention I will put towards it. I prefer the half time show and the commercials. And don't forget all those great snacks that come with the Superbowl Party. Go Eagles!!!

  4. I watched Groundhog Day years and years ago! I remember enjoying it though, so I think I will have to watch it again. Can hardly remember it now!

  5. Actually, the Superbowl is the only NFL game we watch. And, in all honesty, I tend to zone out during the game but pay mad attention to the commercials ;-)

    1. The commercials used to be so good when I was a kid. Now I watch the ones I want to see after the game, on Youtube.

  6. I probably won't be watching the superbowl either. Thats smart to invest in some new running shoes and tape!

  7. My parents actually live in Woodstock, the town where Groundhog Day was filmed. And yes, it's as picturesque as it looks!

  8. I'm with you, its hard to focus on healthy foods when there's Girl Scout cookies to distract you. I avoided the temptation of ordering any this year. Now I just need to avoid the sales outside of the grocery stores when those start up.

    1. Those tables outside grocery stores can get me. I try to resist, but there's always another cookie box I want.
