Allie's Story

Today is thinking out loud with Amanda, and I realized I haven't shared Allie's story yet.  I adopted her January 2014, but she has a back story.

She was rescued by a rescue shelter from a high-kill shelter where she was dumped when she got pregnant.  She had a guardian angel because the rescue shelter stepped in before she was going to be euthanized.  And she was scheduled to be euthanized, despite being pregnant.  She was able to have her 8 babies in her foster home, where they were all adopted.

These 3 pictures were sent to me by her foster mom.  I was told Allie was a great mama to all her babies, that she was a natural.

Now I've had her a year and a half, and she rules the home.

  3. I am SO glad that you adopted her from a shelter. I am a huge supporter of animal shelters so it always makes me smile to hear the adoption stories. You have literally saved Allie's life, as well as the lives of all of her babies. Huge cheers to you for your lifesaving work!

    1. I was looking at many shelters. All of my family's pets, except one, were shelter animals, and they've been the best.

  4. Love hearing stories like this! I volunteer at an animal shelter as a dog walker, and it's really tough sometimes to be in that atmosphere. Hearing happy stories like this pushes me to work hard for the dogs and help get them adopted! Thanks for sharing :)

    1. Yes, they spayed her after she weened her babies. She's now strictly indoors too so she doesn't have to worry, twice over.

    1. They do! I've loved all of our animals, even the non-shelter one (who probably would've been a shelter animal if we hadn't adopted him). I love how each one has their own unique personality.

  8. Oh my goodness - this story warms my heart! I'm so happy your kitty was rescued by the shelter and that she was able to have her babies. So adorable that they are all so light colored and she is a darker kitty! Hope the two of you have many happy days ahead of you. Kitties are the best friends :)

    1. One of her babies was a very dark gray girl, but none of the others look like her. The shelter recently shared a photo of one of Allie's sons, and he's, um, plus sized now.
